Ok i got a Hp laptop pavillion. Got on a couple of weeks back and noticed someone had downloaded some smiley software. I uninstalled it, tried my best to remove it. I scanned my computer using Super Anti Spyware & it found 17 of them under 3 categories one of them being "Juicy Access" and "HB helper"...theres another but cant remember the name. I tried to remove them & they wont come off. And now I've noticed theres 2 file documents in my Documents Folder which wont let me delete them. It says something about them being locked files or it cannot be removed because it is being used in another program. One of the documents says "ntuser.dat LOG 1 File 256 KB" and the other one says the same but LOG2 file and 0 Bytes.....Please can someone help me??? Dont want anything to happen to my laptop since its brand new. Thank you!

Are you running an anti-virus software? SuperAntiSpyware is not really an anti-virus software, even though it will handle a lot of such things. You should be running some anti-virus software in addition to SuperAntiSpyware.

In the meantime, I would suggest booting into Safe Mode (this should help if you do not know how: http://www.bleepingc...utorial61.html) and then re-running the SuperAntiSpyware scan and see if you can now removed the stuff it detects.

Yes I am using Super Anti Spyware Free edition and Im also Using AVG FREE 8.5....Ive heard to use "Malware"? But not sure if its safe.

You mean Malwarebyte's Anti-malware? If so, then it is also recommended with SuperAntiSpyware as a supplement to a good anti-virus program.

I would suggest booting into Safe Mode and re-running both an AVG and SuperAntiSpyware scan (Malwarebytes' does not tend to recommend running their program in Safe Mode...but rather in "regular" mode).

Ive tried scanin with both but would still pop up when i scan again...and i recently found these folders in my documents that cant not be deleted it says something like "it can not be removed it is bein used in another program or that we need permission to delete"wich im the only adminstartor

im try scaning again like you said and will be bck on shortly hope your still here to help...

As I said, give them both a try in Safe Mode...Safe Mode will only load Microsoft specific memory resident programs...and sometimes "bad stuff" will load into memory and anti-malware programs cannot kill that stuff until they are not loaded in memory. This is why many anti-virus programs recommend doing scans in Safe Mode (after doing a scan in "normal" mode).

the "Logs" from the "SUPERAntiSpyware" and/or "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" program(s)

which are accessed from their main screen(s). Those "Logs" should be done after you have

Considering that SuperAntiSpyware INCLUDES a utility to boot into Safe Mode, it is perfectly fine (and sometimes NECESSARY) to run it in Safe Mode.

For reviewing the Info contained in a "Log", the Scan of that "Log" should have been run in

"Normal" Mode IF at all possible ; otherwise, the "Log" contains very little helpful Info .

A program called "Unlocker" will delete most any stubborn files that won't go away. Set up a restore point beforehand if you're not certain that the files should go away.

Nope I have tried everything. Ive even rebooted in safe mode but they still pop up when i scan it. I even defragment my computer. Any other suggestions?? All help is greatly appreciated! :)

Have you tried the Unlocker 1.87 by Cedrick Collomb like it was mentioned

by "etim" . This will install a Context Menu item and from there , just highlight the file to be unlocked then.

right click and choose the Unlocker entry. A dialog box will appear asking you what you want done

with the file. It will present several options . Read the instructions on Cedrick's site and you shou;d be able to

unlock and delete.

I just downloaded it and im right clicking on the file but i dont see "unlock" as it says to do on the instructions. Im also going to the "start unlocker assistant" to open it but nothing comes out..

After the installation , did you re-boot the PC ? It would not normally need this action but,

it could be what is needed.

Do you see it (unlocker) in the notification area : that would be the little wand .





If you don't then, it didn't install properly. Go to > Start > Control Panel > Programs & Features :

You should be able to see the install there.



Uninstall and start again IF after a re-start of the PC

didn't do the trick. Post back if this doen't work .

Nope didnt work. The wand is there at the bottom. I dont see "unlock" when I right click these files either. I did what you said and i followed the instructions & restarted my pc a before & after the installation. thanks :)

One program I've found to be useful on occasion is called "MoveOnBoot." It's available at http://www.emco.is . While the name suggests file moving, it also offers the option of deleting the selected file. As the name suggests, this action is accomplished during the boot-up process - before any program has the opportunity to lock it. First you mark it for deletion, then you reboot. It doesn't always work though. Dunno why, but I have had some success with it on some very stubborn files.



Before you delete anything, though, you might want to make sure it's not a bad idea to do it. I Googled NTUSER.DAT.LOG1, and couldn't find any definitive information that I trusted. What I did find, though, are inferences that this file may be a necessary system file. You may be receiving a "false positive" on the virus scan.
