The only problem with the Windows Live Hotmail spell checker is that it does not have language support. (ie; spell check spanish text.)
Or maybe I don't know how to activate this feature. When I choose another language, the whole sytem changes to the selected language.
Outlook express is able to spell check in different languages. Please let me know if it's possible to activate language support in Windows Live Hotmail.

If I remember correctly, OE already has a spell checker. I use it all the time to have my message checked before it gets sent. So why would I download a add-on when it already has one.
Outlook has a ton of add-ons OE should have the same for things that it doesn't already have.

Once you install or upgrade to MS Office 2007, it permanently breaks the built-in spell checker for OE. Now I am forced to either, 1) migrate to Outlook (don't like it); 2) migrate to Windows Live Mail (don't like it either); or 3) get a third-party add-in spell checker. This last suggestion is the official answer on Microsofts support site, btw.

not sure what this is all about ... OE has a spellchecker and a pretty good one at that ...

Outlook Express does NOT have its own spell checker - it uses the spell checker thst is part of Microsoft Word. Thus, if you do not have a pre 2007 edition of MS Word installed, it does not work properly.
landsend3 is correct - MS Office 2007 is incompatible with Outlook Express spell check and will cause it to not work properly (in my case it thinks I'm writing French).
Installing a third party spell checker is the easiest way to solve this problem.

For the entire time that I've been using computers the only e-mail program that I use is Outlook Express and it has always has a spell check within it. That was before Office 2007 and 2003 were invented, or even installed in my computer, and I've never used any word processing program to compose an e-mail. You don't use Outlook Express do you.

I've been using Outlook Express ever since its first release, and it's never had its own spell checker. It would use another program's spell checker (Word, Outlook, etc) if they were installed, otherwise the only other option was keep a dictionary handy.

To cjm6695 - Outlook Express is the only email program I have ever used. It has always used another program's spell check function, yes even before Office 2003 & Office 2007. The spell check function in OE is simply a link to another program's spell check, it has nothing to do with using a word processing program to compose email. Check Microsoft's Help site, as landsend3 said, they recommend a third party spell check for the known problem with Office 2007 .

I'm perplexed about you saying that OE doesn't have it's own dictionary when I've always been spell checking my messages with or without any word processing program in my computer. I haven't used my Word 2007 so I don't know about the problem with it's spell checking so I'll keep thinking about a third party of that when I eventually start to use it when I'm ready.
What I really wish for is add-ons for things that OE doesn't have like that Outlook has, like nobody uses OE.
