Well I bought my wife a Dell laptop SX13 last March and it has been freezing up and crashing periodically.

I restored it several times and even reloaded from the factory install partition and it still kept acting up.

Finally I resorted to contacting Dell support (I know I'm not the only one who struggles with a problem for months before contacting the help line) and they said there was a corrupted windows file that must also be corrupted on the factory install.

After many many hours reinstalling Vista and updating all the drivers the systems appears to be stable. Of couse I can never reload from the factory partition and reloading the way the support person did does not seem like a reasonable endeavor for a sane person.

So, what I want to do first is to create an image backup so I can restore to this point if I need to. I have Vista Home premium so it didn't come with image backup.

Can someone recommend a good product? Does either Roxio or Nero include good image backup for Vista?

Thanks.

I use TrueImage for that purpose (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/) on Windows.
