One irony is that the Green Dam Software has been accused of pirating their code from a US software company - Solid Oak
"It is 100 per cent without a doubt our code that is included," said Jenna DiPasquale, Solid Oak's PR manager.
I believe Green Dam will be delayed until MIIT sorts this out ... If PC manufacturers, and eventually Apple, are mandated to load Green Dam, then they could be liable for knowingly using software that is infringing on Solid Oak's IP

You mean Green Dam isn't free software, open-source?

If it's open-source, then it's easy to fix it to do whatever you want. ;)

Wow ... you mean ..... People in China actually can afford a Mac?

I wonder how many pirated DVD or XP they have to sell to own a Mac.

Why should a company that sells computers to non-Chinese people be forced by a foreign government like China to install invasive software that non-Chinese citizens will use. WAKE UP people and realize the enormous power and arrogance that China wields on the rest of the world. ENOUGH!

You wake up! Doh! Do you think you can have a computer sold in North America that doesn't respect DRM? Hmmm? If Apple wants a piece of the lucrative market in China, which dwarfs North America, they must follow the LAW of the land.

You can't even buy Cuban cigars... Legally that is.

Now I don't agree with any censorship of any form...
