Strange problem

Can anyone guide me with this for couple of days I am having a strange problem with my PC. Programs are opening with a delay, when I move my mouse it also moves with a delay. Anyone knows what's the problem, I have Windows XP with service pack 2, processor speed of 2.80GHz and my HD have free space of around 10GB in C. I have used Registry Fix but that didn't resolve the problem.
