Microsoft Keeps Beating a Dead Browser

I got tired of the pop-upinviting me to upgrade to IE8. So, I installed it, went thru the whole process, and still get the pop-up, as if the PC doesn't know it's there. I checked the program list and it's there, but the PC doesn't access it. Should I remove IE7? I thought I should leave it there in case IE8 was simply an add-on to the existing framework.

Regarding Google vs. Bing, Google lost my vote after seeing Street View .... it smacks too much of Big Brother plus it offers a criminal threat.
The time has come for the government to trim Google's sails as they did with Microsoft. There's too much information available.

Was someone Actually paid to write that story? How much did Foxfire pay them? I tried Foxflunk for a while and had nothing but trouble with it and its 10 million add ons you need to make it a better browser. . . Thanks but I'll stick with Slim browser which works with IE8 and works perfectly for me and several people I introduced to it.

Opinions are like rear ends, everyone has one. All of the browsers have their own set of problems. Myself I prefer IE8 and Firefox 3.5. Each one does some things better than the other. So why do people try and push their browser preference down everyone's throat. This is a free country. If you don't like IE8, then use another browser. Also, advertising is a way of life in this country, if you don't like what you see you don't have to read it.

IE8 cannot and will not simply install itself. If your auto update preferences allow updates to be downloaded and installed without YOUR permission then it's your bad move not Microsoft's. Your switch to Firefox was not your only out either. You could very easily have uninstalled IE8...another uninformed and bad move on your part. Then again...it's always easier to blame others for our own faults.

I understand that journalism is about free speech and opinion...I also believe that "good" journalism requires a certain amount of restraint. When my daughter asked if she could Google "two girls, one cup" I asked where she had heard such a thing. When she told me it was in an article on PC Magazine's website I thought she might be kidding around a bit. But no, there it was! For the author of this bit of crap to suggest that my daughter or ANYONE should Google an explicit sexual act and to not blame him for what they might find is absolutely uncalled for. All this on top of a totally misguided and biased slam of Microsoft's "most used by choice" browser. This article is a definite thumbs-down...in my opinion.

Who cares which browser somebody uses. If they prefer one over another, or if they more comfortable using one over another, let them use the one they prefer. IE is better, Firefox is better, Chrome is better, Safari is better, Opera is better, or Maxthon, Avant, Orca, World, Tiny, etc. is better ... I DON'T CARE!
ENOUGH OF THIS NONSENSE.
Yes, I prefer to use one of the above browsers. It has been designated as my "default" browser. When I open an email link, it automatically opens. But I do use other browsers, too, when it makes sense to me to do so. So I actually have three of the above browsers on all of my computers, and even more on some of them (I have 6).
The whole point is that articles like "Microsoft Keeps Beating ..." are useless, and certainly not needed. People will use the browser (or browsers) they like and ignor those they don''t like.

Look folks I use FIrefox as my main browser; only because I like a the customization of it. But for the writer to think that most people are going to switch is nuts. Most PC users are happy and content with Internet Explorer. I like Internet Explorer just fine, six of one half dozen of another. It is obvious the anti-Microsoft bias by the author.

I like Internet Explorer 8 a lot. I am running Windows 7 RC1 and have no issues. I do not understand why PC Mag constantly has issues with Microsoft. I use many of Microsoft's software packages which work seamlessly on my machine. I would like to see PC Mag get over their hang-up with Microsoft and report without prejudice on all product that they review.
Thanks,
Steve
