G'day Ya'll
Windows XP -SP3 Recycle Bin problem: Any deleted file(s) appears for a short time in the recycle bin (haven't determined the exact no. of minutes!). When I return to the Bin they are gone, gone, gone! Further there are a whole bunch of 0byte .TMP files showing up in there from the system folder C:RECYCLER. What could I have done to create this disturbing situation &, more importantly, how do I correct it? I assure all that the 'Properties' option that causes files to be deleted immediately & not go to the recycle bin is unchecked.

Check two things:
Right-click Recycle-bin > properties and see that in Global tab make sure there is no tick in the box that says "do not move files to the recycle bin", secondly change the Recycle Bin properties back to "use one setting for all drives" hope that resolves your first problem.
For your second problem use CCleaner, it's a pretty good freeware that will delete your unnecessary temp files very fast

Thnx for your suggesttions.
Re your first para: The items you suggested have been in effect all along. ie box is unchecked & global applies.
Re 2nd suggestion: just ran CCleaner which was already installed on my m/c......... Result: no change. .TMP files are still in R.Bin.. Haven't tried deleting a file to see if it stays in R.Bin. Will do that next.
