Hello all,

I have videos that I would like to share with friends but they are a bit too large (the videos, not my friends). For example, one video which is only about 5 minutes long but is in High Definition and is 86,000 KB (84MB) which a; would take forever to send and b; would be rejected by even the supremest E-mail program. How can I reduce the file size to an acceptable size that would be accepted without losing quality?

Appreciate any assistance you can provide,

thanks,

Yep

one word, youtube

Youtube is now optimized for HD content

if you have a moderately fast DSL or cable internet connection, you can upload that clip in about 20 minutes...

What video editor do you have?

You can convert it to MP4 (mpeg -4) and it should be smaller

Or you could try Yousendit or mediafire

If you have a real video editor, resize the video from 1920x1080 to about 1024x600

keep the bitrate of the video about the same, mabye drop it by about 1/5th
you can drop the audio bitrate to 160-192kbps (mp3 codec) without any noticable loss in quality

and most importantly, keep the frame rate exactly the same or else the video will look choppy

You cant make the file size allot smaller without loosing some quality.
Try using Windows Movie Maker, you can get a much smaller file and near DVD quality.
