There are several good choices that I use.
VLC Media Player has just updated to version 1.0.0. I consider it the ultimate player.
Media Player Classic is very much like Windows Media Player 6 in style but with a lot more power. It's also a very good player.
If you're looking for something with a full library and such, MediaMonkey is slightly similar to Windows Media Player.

MPC is good for playing one vid at a time, if you can use it. It can properly size any widescreen movie to a wide screen monitor, but has no play list for playing multiple media files. And it created an unacceptable problem with my Vista64 system. Caused constant notices to update Adobe 8 Reader in IE7, even though AR was updates. Every click anywhere on a web page resulted in the annoying notice. Had to uninstall and use "Restore" to resolve the problem. Happened with both the Install and Portable versions of MPC. So I was unable to use MPC.

;) Hi I am a big fan of Cowans Jet Audio. I use the FREE version. The library application would be a little on the minus side, but it does not take too long to get get use to it. If you use Firefox and have the Foxy Tunes on your browser it is a perfect match. Hi reco !!!
