AOL just got caught in their innocent consumers' privacy rights 'cookie jar.' Their response: It's a 'design flaw.' Hilarious! We should enact Federal laws whereby such companies are heavily fined for such damaging conduct, even in the rare cases where such conduct was 'inadvertent.'

hahahahahaahha. It's about time it was publicized what EVERYONE already knew. AOSmell's software is a JOKE, just like the company. Installing 9 includes: AOSmell Connectivitiy services (a useless service that sucks up resources and interferes with connections) AOSmell Antispyware (a USELESS app that shows an animation, but does NOTHING to identify or remove spyware) AOSmell You've Got Pictures Screensaver (Nothing more needs to be said about this garbage) AOSMell Coach (yea, like we need a coach) AOSmell Explorer (useless) AOSmell Toolbar (Useless) and the 3rd party Port Magic, that tries to take over the user's networking. This company needs to be put out of business, and fast

This is not new - AOL has always done cuatomizations without warning - in their clients, in their instant messaging tools, etc. That's why I don't use them. But others are just as bad, with their instant messaging tools. Media players are just as bad. Sometimes if you do an advanced install you can stop this happening but not always.I call it just plain rude.

Rightly accused. Might be easier to take if any of the additions were disclosed and made optional. When I first noticed the tool bar could not get it out of IE. Also dumping AIM, WINAMP, and other install programs on hard drive (very impolite). Also true about uninstall I always have to look for AOL, America Online, and other possible entries in the registry. Also REALPLAYER hijacks your media player settings.
