I'm looking for ideas. I want to rip all my CDs to a harddrive.Should I buy a small PC with a large HD or use network storage with some type of interface to access the songs on my home AV receiver. The objective is to pack up about 800 CDs and have access to the music w/o the hassles of finding a case and loading the CD player.Thank you!Kevin

How do you plan to save these files?? MP3 or .WAV?? I save all my cd's to a large hard drive in .WAV format and then can select them fromthe pc and route them to the A/V receiver to listen to them. I can also select them individually and burn to a CD to play in the car or take to a party. Close attention has to be made to the connections from the PC to the player at home to keep static and noise to a minimum. I have many methods of playback and feel that .WAV files will give you the best sound. Ripping to MP3 files compresses the music and makes the files smaller but you may notice some loss of fidelity.
