I found that one can download the HP Solution Center and use it in place of HP Director to work around this problem. Of course, like most HP software it loads lots of stuff you probably don't want as well. But it does solve the problem and is compatible with IE7.0. The very large installation file COL10941.EXEcan be found at this address:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericSoftwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&softwareitem=ps-33838-1&jumpid=regR1002USEN

I did the same thing David did. I was using Director. I downloaded & installed the same thing that Dave refers to. It's software for a digital camera. When it asks for the camera just click continue without connecting the camera or something to that effect. It removes Director & replaces it with HP Solution Center & installs Photosmart Premier. It also installs drivers & software for the camera but that's a small price to pay for something that works. Also I didn't uninstall anything prior to installing the new software. I didn't want to end up uninstalling my printer drivers.I don't know why HP doesn't just give us the Solution Center as an update.Ron

Tried all the above. When I try to install the printer driver from HP's website I get an error message half way through install saying that TrayApp.msi is not an authenticated install package and to try to find it in a directory that it can be installed from. How the hell do I know what directory it can be installed from? I sent an email to the current pres of HP complaining (Yeah, lots of luck with that) and pointing out that tax season is upon us and that thousands of HP customers are going to have to buy a new printer and just whose printer does he think they will buy. I'm learning Linux! drc:evil::evil::evil:

nomar, Thanks for the attempt. I found the page , but when I clicked on download I got the error: no such file or directory. It's strange that they would keep the page up, but remove the file. But that is consistent with this whole comedy of errors that should be making both HP and Microsoft a laughing stock.:unsure:unsure:unsure drc

[quote name='bo10pt']I recently redid my system after major performance problems. I Installed XP SP2 again and added Windows Media player 11, Internet explorer 7 and System Mechanic 6. the system is a Dell 8300 2.8ghz with 1GB ram. Now my HP 2410 all-in one printer will not install correctly. Windows keeps interefering with new hardware found. I did a level 4 uninstall with HP's uninstall utility to no avail. The software seems to install properly but nothing works for example the HP Director or the HP Imaging monitor does not open. I am also having problems with my Ipod shuffle. In iTunes a new drive window keeps opening, showing drive (H). Any help would be greatly appreciated.when clean install of win xp has been done , first install drivers of your all-in-one and then install other drivers and updates like IE 7 this might resolve the issue
