ive been going a bit hectic with my computer these couple days. I formatted to vista yesterday because xp was having freeze ups or something but after installing sp1 on vista and everything else vista gave me nothing but trouble, drivers not being found.. slow as hell transfer rate, i had to transfer like 7gigs of data from a data dvd and vista just couldn't do it, it was givin me too much trouble, so i formmated back to xp late at night lol, now its a mess need to reinstall everything once again. Now never going back to that junk vista ever again sticking with xp until windows 7 is out :^0

Hey lil, I think you would have better off working on the freeze up problem. Now look at all the aggravation you have caused yourself. :D With a reformat and reinstall, you should be fine. coastie

i tried to fix the freeze up problem wasn't viruses scanned everything twice not driver issues everything was up to date. I was just getting weird crazy lags when i click dl something it takes 6secs for it to pop up, start menu kept lockin up when i right click somethin to open with that took 6 secs as well, and opening everest just got all the processes not responding so i was pissed at xp so went to vista but then had other issues encountered on vista so went back to xp.

I take it you didn't go to task manager and see what may have been running in the background. That kind of thing, more often then not, turns out to be a graphics issue. coastie

If You did what you said you did......Look like you did most everything but....REFORMAT.....DO A CLEAN INSTALL...PUT WDs VIsta back on....you'll be flying.

Then you know for sure , there is not a hardware failing.

Other than that....You will keep guessing around.

So i am cleaning out my basement and getting everything how i want it. so I am keeping a pI laptop with windows 95 (sometimes people ask me questions and it nice to have the os when your being asked questions), A pII laptop with windows 98 on it, maybe a pIII laptop with windows me on it, and then i have my servers with win2000 and winxp installed on diffrent drives (there duel but incase I need to use them as gaming pcs when we have a lan party). So after keeping those laptops and the parts laptop for one of the kids laptops i found i have 6 laptops I am going to be passing on to a friend that fixxs up laptops for kids and fams in need. My wife is so on board with this plan she even offered to help load the stuff thats leaving in to her car for the drop off (I am not sure if she is being nice or she wants it gone that bad). Now I am on a hunt for keyboards so i can use the docking stations I have for the diffrent laptops.

:^0 Not me, I know how to turn the thing off. It seems to be doing pretty good now. I guess it takes it a while to warmed up. Maybe IT needs a preheater.
