Nah, I'm just staying home. My friend is not going out either, so we'll probably watch a movie, and eat 12 grapes each, exactly at midnight, when the New Year comes.

Boy, I for one, I'm glad that 2008 is over. The year of the rat was not a good year for a lot of folks.

Last year I was all by myself, so I didn't care and went to bed around 11.

This year, my friend is here, so who knows what we'll end up doing. Probably movies and munchies.

I love Border Collies, they're so smart and fun to have around.

I hope you can find your pics RT, and post them in the [Doggie Thread|t-23570] ok? That's where we usually hang out to talk about dogs and the things they do.

I don't know what the twelve grapes thing is, unless it insures plenty of Vino for the upcoming year. :p As for 2008 and the year of the Rat, it was a Rat alright. My mom's IRA took a major hit, thanks to everything tanking, so her check from that is greatly diminished. I guess a lot of people have gone through the same thing, not to mention those that lost jobs and their homes through no fault of their own.

I thought you were with us last year. I keep forgetting, when we rung in the New Year, it was only 9 PM your time and I went to bed shortly there after.

The 12 grapes thing is a tradition that started in Spain (I think.) And, since my mom and dad were both from Spain, we always had 12 grapes at midnight.

Even if we kids were sleeping, they'd wake us up, we'd eat our grapes, get hugs and kisses afterwards and then back to bed we went.

I'm sorry that your mom also got hit by all the stuff that's going on. There are a lot of people who are in a world of hurt right now. I feel bad for them.

I got my Blackeyed Peas. Tomorrow I'll cook a big pot of Blackeyed Peas and some cornbread while taking down the Christmas stuff. Enjoy the grapes.

Hi Lil. Happy New Year!

I got up early today to watch the Rose Parade and with every float that went by I thought about you, and all the good work you and the other people did on them.

:D

Did you guys hear about John Travolta's son's death? He was a 16 year old boy, had a seizure in the bathroom and fell, hitting his head on the tub.

I feel really bad for the Travolta family. I'm sending them prayers and blessings.

Yeah, it was terrible. He and his wife Kelly have always been down to earth, and this is a terrible thing to happen to that family. They'll be included in my prayers. coastie

Yesterday, my friend treated us to a movie: The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons, with Brad Pitt.

OMG, it was an amazing, awesome movie, completely different from any movie I've ever seen! :0 It wouldn't surprise me if Brad Pitt won an Oscar for it.

So, yesterday I was on my way to another town because I wanted to check out their New Year's sale, when the Warning Light came on in my car.

It's a good thing that I had my new cell with me, because I had to stop and call my mechanic (thank goodness his phone number is easy to remember.) :p

He said to come by after I finished my shopping. I was done in about 30 mins, came home and had a little lunch then I jetted out there to where he lives (he works out of his garage.) He had to scan my car for the problem.

Since the Warning Light came on twice, there were 2 codes = Code 42 and Code 70, and they're not really that urgent. We're going to be taking care of Code 42 sometime next week, he has to call around for the best prices for parts.

Also it seems like the radiator has a small leak, so he'll be working on that too.

And here I thought I was going to be able to put some $ away this month for my HDTV... < big sigh > :( :_| Oh well.

Yesterday (Saturday) I had to go to the MetroPCS Repair Center and took my new cell phone back. Ever since I got it, every time I spoke with anybody, the sound would come in and out, and sometimes fade enough so that I couldn't hear part of a word/words they were saying.

So I took it back. I already had over 60 mins of calls, so they couldn't give me my $ back, but since it is under warranty they gave me another phone, of the same model. I've only used it once since then, so we'll see how this one works.

If it starts doing the same thing, then I'm going to have to get another model altogether... maybe the Samsung one they have on sale for $99. I actually like Samsung cell phones much better. :p
