I was guided to dvdvideosoft.com (from where, I don't remember) to download software so I can download youtube video. I'm a teacher and want to use some files in my presentations. Our school has youtube blocked, but I can get approval for videos. I really want to know if the site is malware city or something legit and I just have my security filters set too high for and keep getting all the warnings. Any help?

Hi Kojak, and welcome to the PC world forums!

I've never heard of this site before, but i recommend you DO NOT go to it. I did a search on mcafee siteadvisor, and the website is marked RED. it has dangerous downloads, and the dangerous downloads include the YouTube downloader. The user reviews aren't too negative, but i still wouldn't recommend going to the website. Here is a link to the review.

If you need YouTube downloading software, there is plenty on PCW downloads. I use a free, lightweight app called YouTube Downloader. it can be found here.

This is a great app, and is recommended by PCW. It's a small file size, and doesn't just download files from YouTube, but converts them too.
By default the video's are downloaded in .FLV file format, which is the default format for YouTube videos. Now programs like Windows Media player cannot read .FLV files, so it gives you a converter to convert the file from FLV to WMV, the windows media player format, so it can be played on your computer.

The downloading is as easy as 1,2,3. Go to any YouTube video, and copy the URL from the adress bar. Then paste the URL into the YouTube Downloader, and press download. Wa-la, you're ready to download.

Yeah, You can use the youtube downloader software to download the movies and thereafter enjoy the videos..make sure to download it from a reputed site otherwise you may end up downloading some virus on your system.

i agree, it is not completely safe, i heard of them, is sort of russian site but with unclear background.
and mcafee siteadvisor is very reliable in rating websites

Hi,

Go to  The Convert Files. They have a built-in You Tube downloader and no extra app is needed.  And it's good, if you think a site may be dangerous, to check it with e.g. Web of Trust webpage.

you do not need to download all these chinese or russian software, if there's no malware you might have other problems.
youtube periodically updates its server content and those software, if commercial, will stop working or, if free, will install crap.

You can use a free service online without downloading anything (keepvid for example). just make sure that your java plugin is up to date to avoid any vulnerability exploit. that's it
