I have a Gateway computer FPD2275 widescreen LCD monitor with Faroudja technology. The monitor will put itself to sleep shortly after starting up. Clicking a key isn't helping. Has anyone else had this problem?

Adding to the above post.....The computer it is now connected to is brand new so I don't see how it could be a video card problem. A few weeks ago it was connected to another computer that I've since replaced. I had a tech friend check it then and he said it worked fine when he connected to another computer. Can it be a bad video VGA cable? I looked at the pins and they all seem fine. What's the likelihood it could be a cable problem?

Hi Chuck and welcome to the forum. Yes, it could be a bad cable. It could be checked by trying another cable. Also make sure the cables are securely plugged in. This has happened in the past, and just checking the cables, it was found that it was loose and not securely plugged in. coastie

A new computer can easily have a bad video card.

Are you saying that the monitor does not work with either the old or the new computer? Or did it word with the old computer, but will not work with the new computer?

If the later, have you tried a different monitor (i.e. a monitor that you know works) with the new computer?
