 I'm new. What I would like to know,if anyone else will help me- ;)
If I have Java™6 update 15, do I need to have the Java™6-update 7?
The file looks damaged and it is a pretty good size and I have memory issue already.
I just wanted to know if I can dump the update 7 file?
It went on the computer before I had it,and now I am having issues and I don't really know where to start.

I have moved your question to the Other Software & Services forum as the General Talk forum is not really for technical questions. This will hopefully result in your getting more help with your issue.

Hi and welcome to the forum. First, only keep the latest version ( update) of Java. The rest can be removed. Second you might want go give us your Computer model & Specs ( less Serial# ) and a description of the issues you are having. This will better help us to try and find a solution. coastie

:D Thanks so much for the reply. It is so hard to find anybody knowledgeable enough to help me learn these things.I have only been on the internet since late June, and I am just starting to learn(I know,Where have I been-right!)Anyway,here goes-IBM(it says Net Vista on the front)Intel Pentium 3 processor 863 MHz;384 MB of RAM:Microsoft Windows XP Pro version 2002-Service Pack 3.(my hard drive says 73% free, but I get low memory messages.)
About a month(or so) ago-I do not know how this happened but,I started getting this on start up;Invalid ini.boot file-booting from C:/Windows,and then it did,but now-it takes at least 4 times to coax it to come on,then when I do everything is just fine.
Problem-it is a 2nd hand computer, the ONLY disk I have is WIN XP PRO service pack2(it's legal copy)If I try to resolve these problems, will I be able to get on line and have my"stuff" work as usual?Because,I have no idea how to configure internet setup(?)or anything.
I wasn't joking-I really AM new to all of this.
Again,thanks so much! :D

Hi, First, That is an older computer and most likely came with either Win 98 or Win 98SE installed. With the avalable resources, going to XP Pro is a big leap, but doable. It will be a bit slow in booting and such ( my mother had an IBM Think Pad with pretty near the same Specs ). As far as the memory message, this is refering to the Physical Memory ( Ram), not the Hard Drive. That can be corrected by adding ram ( If you can even find it). Getting back to the ini messages, there may be some leftover files from a previous Operating System. I don't know what size Hard Drive you have in there or how the OS was installed. If the Hard Drive was reformatted and the new stuff installed then it should have been fine. coastie
