When I start my computer I takes its 2 minutes before I can start using it. The only thing I have opening at startup is norton internet securities. is this normal or is there something else I can do to fix the problem.

Try using hibernate instead of shutting down. This drastically improves your start up speed. It's not the same as shut down, it saves everything on your ram to disc and reloads it on startup. I do suggest a windows restart every once in a while, incase your machine becomes more unstable the longer it's on.

I would look at the programs that start up when Windows boots up. Go to start/Run/ type in msconfig and click ok. Click on the startup tab and see if you can shut down some unnessary startup programs. Go the http://www.sysinfo.o...tartuplist.php. That site will give you a good idea as to what programs to shut down. If you decide to do this, uncheck the program you want to shut off. You will probably have to restart after words. I have done this on a few computers I work with and It has improved startup time.

I have a laptop with norton and I just wait to it tell me every thing is fine then I start using my computer. I usually use hibernation though when I leave for school.
