i just started playing my first multiplayer game on my computer, unreal tournament 2004. ive noticed gameplay is incredibly smooth in quick play and i usually get on average 150 fps. when i play multiplayer the framrate lockes at 85 and it apperars a little more choppy. its not bad at all but wish it was like playing the quick play. There is no v sync option i can see. i have been trying to choose servers with the least amount of ping

How fast if your internet connection? Internet speed can easily effect online multi-player games....you have a pretty good system. Unreal Tournament is a somewhat old game....so that could make it a bit choppy on the graphics side. But i can't think of much that would slow your game down...other than internet connection.

i'm not sure if understood that.....5mb? sry.

this is just a random guess, perhaps multiplayer only lets you go up to 85fps max...? i doubt thats the case but it could be....

He left out "ps" at the end.

That would be 5 megabits per second.

Okay

Are you running a software firewall in the background? Are you running behind a router?

You could also experiencing choppy play because of a full server.

In online multiplayer the Unreal game engine will drop your frame rate to match the other players so you don’t have an unfair advantage.

Yeah, they do try to keep the playing field as even as possible as far as the frame rate goes.
