Did you read anything in regards to this before posting... One of the areas Woolworths' application includes a wide class for electrical goods and technology, putting it in direct competition with Apple should the retailer choose to brand computers, music players or other devices. Woolworths has gone into credit cards and mobile phones, so the likelihood of it going into computers is not too remote.

Apple is run by a bunch of fruitcakes...

I knew about Linksys use of iPhone (which stood for IP {Internet Protocol} Phone) well before the Apple iPhone appeared. Yet Apple didn't hesitate in appropriating the iWhatever in this case Cisco's iPhone trademark, well after it was trademarked. So they are bullies. Whatever settlements or compensation, Apple was and still is a corporate bully.

Serves them right Apple can't monopolize the Fruit Trademark. What's next? They'd go after Fruit of the Loom?

I think I'll use an Apple for my new company logo. I'll be sent a cease and desist letter but I'd get some free advertising out of the deal! lol

This is not the logo for Woolworths Ltd. It is the logo for Woolworths 'The Fresh Food People' supermarkets. Dick Smith, Tandy, Big W, BWS, Woolworths Liquor, Dan Murphy's, Everyday Rewards, Everyday Money, Everyday Mobile and the rest have their own respective logos.

Again, Woolworth's application for this trademark included use on electrical products and technology. Apple is protesting their use of an apple in this area only. I think it is reasonable to argue that an mp3 player or computer branded with this apple logo has the potential for customer confusion. Apple does not care that the Washington Apple Commission uses an apple in its logo.

Good Grief! There is absolutely no comparison with the Woolworth 'W' and Apple's Apple logo. I don't think anyone with a brain would confuse the two. Apple, being a distant 2nd to the PC market, simply wants to shake down as much money as possible from any business they can. I hope that Woolworth's lawyers rip Steve Jobs and his 'intellectual property Nazis' a new one.

The Beatles should have gone through with their lawsuits instead of settling for cash. They had rock solid cases all 3 times and would have certainly won, forcing Jobs to rename the company Kumquat or some other strange fruit.

No I didn't actually read that anywhere nor can I find it right now, can you please direct to me to where it says that the logo may be used for technology/electronics? Woolworths currently sells electronics under brands such as "Woolworths Select" but have you seen a "Woolworths The Fresh Food People" logo on them?

If they get confused between Posted Image and Posted Image there's a problem.

If someone is wanting an Apple computer, wouldn't they know the logo? Or are they following the "fad"?
