External Harddrive Format External Harddrive

hey dude´s

Me and my friend have a little problem with our External harddrives.
The problem is that it says that it will be formatted, and so we formatted them.
afterwards it says so that it only has 2 GB left

A little more information to solve the problem is needed.

How big is the drive? Who made it? Did it come pre-formatted?

And what OS are you using? What are you using to format the drive? What kind of drive it is...USB or Firewire (I assume the former)?

Brand and model of computer(s)?

My External harddrive is a 1 tb WD harddrive. And my computer is a Acer aspire 6935g (im not so good to english)
Im not using any thing to formated my WD. its say every time i put it in my computer with USB, So come the formated box. "you must format this unit before you can use it"

Can it be a virus? :/

It appears that the Acer Aspire 6935G comes with Vista Home Premium. Is that the OS that you are running on the computer? Are you using the OS to format the drive?
