Hello all!

I am curious, anyone know a way to see if your internet connection or your computer is being monitor by your internet providers? Is there a way to see if the internet provider or even hackers spying on your computer?

And if you find out your internet provider is trying to get into your computer, what would you do about your internet provider?

Also, can they get into your computer using WIRELESS connection?

Well, we all know they can monitor while you are surfing the web but can they get into your Hard Drive and get information from you such as credit info and banking info? There are a lot of articles on the web about internet providers are monitoring every website you visit and there's a lot of legal issues about what they are doing.

Is there a way to block them and can you even send them a nasty virus back? HA HA HA

Below are some links I found about Internet Providers monitoring your every move:

I am talking more of a Home environment rather than a Work environment. When you are at work, for sure they will monitor your every move. But what about when you are at your own home?

There's a lot more info on this but you get the message. ;-)

Our internet providers are watching all of us as we speak right now. ;-)

Landster: Welcome to PC World community forums.
You seem to have alot of questions about ISP's (Internet Service Providers). Maybe a google search would provide more information on the individual subjects but I'll try and help. There are number of ways to determine if anyone, be it a hacker or your ISP is trying to get into your PC. The main one is a firewall. These comein two flavors, software such as Windows firewall or ZoneAlarm and the other is a hardware firewall like would be provided by a router. I find Zone Alarm to be a very educational tool besides providing excellent protection. Upon installation, it asks for permission for every program that either leaves your PC or enters your PC. This will allow you to block anyone from gaining access to your PC from outside and also educates you as to which programs on your PC require access to the internet for their normal functions. If you have a WIFI router, it is possible to access you PC if you have no security enabled. There are a number of ways to enable protection, either through encryption or by MAC Address filtering. If you ISP wishes to observe your communication through them, be it by cable modem, DSL modem, satelite or dial up, they can do so and you would never know. This is being done in most cases by the ISP but mostly under the direction of Homeland Security. If you have any quams about this, I suggest you spend your time at the local library and use a fake ID to secure usage of a public unit. The surest way to insure you'll never have a problem with your security at home is to never do anything illegal using your PC.
