Looking for a Win XP inexpensive/freeware/free program/utility that will clone/image a HD to a usb thumb drive and restore a bootable clone/image to a formatted HD. Thie would be very usefull for use with a netbook as a thumb drive is a lot easier to tote than a USB CD/DVD drive.

Thanks,
tonyspol

Acronis TrueImage will do it (to my knowledge). I do not know if it counts as "inexpensive" in your book.

Now, whether or not that clone will boot from a USB drive is highly dependent on a number of factors...and is generally not likely with Windows.

But, you should be able to clone the drive to the USB drive and then be able to boot from the TrueImage CD to clone back from the USB drive to the internal drive.
[soap box]Back up = good...No back up = bad[/soap box]
