Hi

I wish to buy a new laptop with the following features

- full keyboard
- Intel Core2Duo
- I plan to use Windows 7 64bit Home Premium
- Minimum 4GB RAM which should be expandable to at least 8GB
- 15.6 screen size
- Separate graphic card - good to have but not mandatory

I will be using the laptop for the following purposes
- web development using MS technologies
- internet surfing
- Office applications
- watching movies
- some audio video editing (mostly home videos)

Can anyone suggest a new laptop along with the model number for the above mentioned specs and activities.

Thanks and regards

Welcome to the forums :D

How much are you willing to spend?

For the specs that you want, it'll cost.

Just an update: Based on my research, it's going to be hard finding a laptop supporting 8 gigs of memory- so you've been warned.

Also, do you care about the manufacturer?

I do not know where you are looking, but a brief look at laptops on BestBuy's website resulted in three of 4 laptops that I looked at being capable of 8 GB. The 4th might have been as well, but it did not state one way or the other on the Best Buy site. And there were 14 others that met the requirements of the user (Intel Core2Duo, Windows 7 HP, 15" screen) that I did not check.

try out the HP dv6z

i should note, that technology is on the bleeding edge where video/photo processing programs are being written to use the power graphics cards have

and from past experiences, i would recommend getting a laptop with name brand graphics (ATi/nVidia)... no intel integrated graphics stuff

because most of the intel chipsets rate a measly 1.0 on the WEI (windows experience index) and there is no guarantee that a WEI rating of 1.0 will enable the Aero theme of windows 7...

even if you dont think you'll need it, i would recommend it, plus, your screen will look much better too with dedicated graphics
Even the experts were beginners at one point

You might want to look into the new Intel I7 quad core processor. The processor started being seen as Windows 7 came out. The prices are very coamparable to the Core 2 Duo prices.

why choose 15.6 inch screen, for watching movies?
dell studio maybe a good choice for you

according to me, what the laptop is just for light use.

ntegrated video card is ok like gma 4500mhd, smaller screen is better
