A question I have been asking but have not received an answer. I have grown up from the 80's using Outlook Express. I currently have Outlook Express 6 installed. I hate to loose this easy to understand old friend. Is there anyway I can keep it if I upgrade from XP to Windows 7? I never installed Vista on any of my computers. I would hate to loose this.

According to my search there are places you can download Outlook Express, it was posted in 2002 it says it is compatible with all Windows version but your mileage may vary. In Vista - Windows Mail was introduced, it is basically Outlook Express with a face lift and a few more features added in lending some features from it's big brother Outlook, shortly after came Windows Live Mail - I think to make it separate from the IE bundle so the user has choice over what Mail program they can use - I see most OEM's installing it on their computers though rather then ship with out an email program at all.

Long story short - Outlook Express was an integrated part of Internet Explorer and altho you may be able to get it to install it may not function well so it is not recommended. I will try to install it on my Windows 7 machine and let you know how it goes. I think you will find altho they may balk about it most will accept Windows Live Mail because it is also easy to use and does have a look that more fits in with the newer operating system.

I have Outlook 2003 on Windows XP. I am migrating to a Windows 7 PC but can't find a way to import my pst file into Windows Live Mail. Help!

"If you do a clean install, the old contacts will be in c:\Windows.old\Users\yourlogon\Contacts (where logon is the name you logged in with in Vista)."

Doesn't a 'clean install' mean that you're installing the OS on a Clean formatted HD? If so, then there are nothing to end up in C:\Windows.old anything.
