In the past few years, I've tried alittle of everything. There appears to be No perfect solution to stop ongoingSecurity flaws:xJust too many loop holes to seal up the leaks. So in the last few week I've been using the basics.:DKeeping IE6 because many different programs need variousparts/components of IE6 just to function if and when connected to theInternet. I'm using Mozilla FireFox as default browser and let alone all those different Firewall/Security/Anti-Viruspackages behind. Using abundance of programs may interfer or make your PC behavestrange and certain functions will cross paths producing conflict of interest.AVAST Pro along with FireFox seems to be a good combinationZone Alarm Pro would be nice but with all the Bells and Whistleshow can I determine with so little information to Allow/Deny access.I just have to let Windows XP Firewall just do its thing per All the MSSP2 Hotfixes. When in a bind, if Backups or System Restore don't fix your problemuse HiJack This in hope to cure whatever may be giving your PC headaches.:idea:Defragmenting your PC depends how much you use it and add/remove programs while moving files here to-from. Diskeeper is better than what WinXP comes with.Registry Cleaners and Repair .... are they really neccessary?:unsure:PC Tools Registry Mechanic is a popular choice.Never been any facts stipulating that my PC runs faster, better, etc: or even recovers a whole lot of Hard Drive space. The Registry should be left alone to people whom know what they are doing unless you like to be an Explorer. The key is to make a complete backup of the System Hive (the whole registry) before tampering with it.Also backups (can be images too) of your Hard Drive to protect information that cannot to replaced; generally Programs you have on disks can be by re-installing. Wouldn't life be Grand  if we didn't have all these destructive habits imposed upon the PC. Any comments or ideas  would be greatly respected.

{size:18px}[/size]:D Hi Rock : I would have neither of your 2 choices; I avoid "Security Suites" as if they are a plague . Saw no mention of an antiSPYWARE or antiTROJAN program, such as the good & FREE "Ewido" ( reverts to "FREE" AFTER the "trial" ends ) and/or the FREE version of "SUPERantispyware" from www.superantispyware.com !? AND there are good & FREE firewalls available; Windows "firewall" is "half" a firewall. It provides NO outbound protection. In fact, should consider disabling the entire Windows "Security Center", based on the info @ www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1639276,00.asp .
