I've been getting a ccApp.exe not responding error on shutdown, which sometimes prevents my desktop from shutting down, and if not, makes it take several minutes. I understand this to be associated with Norton, so I contacted their support staff and they told me to empty my temp file folder and change ccApp's registry value in the registry editor to 1 instead of 0. I did that, but I still get the problem. Symantec didn't have any other answers. Are there any smarter people out there that have found a fix to this?Incidentally, some of the files in my temp folder won't allow me to delete them. They state that another person or program is currently using them and to shut them down before I can delete the file. How in the world am I supposed to know which program is using that file??? I even asked Microsoft this question, and they told me to contact my computer's manufacturer. The last I heard, it was Microsoft that made Windows. Why would Alienware be expected to tell me why Windows works the way it does???

{size:18px}[/size]:D Hi : The solution is to get rid of Norton; there are lots of GOOD & FREE alternatives. Would be best to view the info at : http://members.acces...dieUpdated.html . I will admit that it is a time-consuming "process" to rid a computer COMPLETELY of Norton, which involves : 1) "uninstalling" from Add/Remove Programs; 2) Using the "Norton Removal Tool " ; 3) Using "Search > All files and folders", using the search "term" "Symantec" & later "Norton" and "Delete" everything it finds; 4) Using a GOOD & SAFE Registry Cleaner, to remove entries there. Those "files" in your Temporary Folder ( I hope you do NOT mean your Temporary INTERNET files !? ) at times some of them can NOT be "deleted" while they are "In Use"; however, you can use the GOOD & FREE "ATF Cleaner", available from : http://www.atribune....tent/view/25/1/ .

Thanks for the advice. As I've browsed around looking for fixes to the Norton problem, getting rid of it altogether seems to be the general consensus. I'll take a look at the link you provided. And no, I don't mean temporary internet files. Although I'm not an advanced computer user, I would consider myself an intermediate one, and would have known there was trouble if I couldn't clean it completely. Thanks again.

came across this list from HP, all I can say is be very careful what you delete. I saw on another forum to delete all Syantrec, but thank goodness I checked files and they appear to be used elsewhere in the system? I am still researching. BUT, apparently here are some of the Norton files. Good luck.http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&docname=bph07149
