Hii, guys...
This seems a bit weird, but i recently got a DVD written with Nero7 on my frnds PC.
It is a multi-session DVD(4.7GB); 1st session wrote 1.5GB(1 folder) & 2nd 2.3GB(1 folder).
After d 1st session i was able to access all data, but after d 2nd session i am unable to access d 2.3GB data.
This is strange as most of my frnds can access both sessions of data on their PC.
I'm runnin Nero6 & I'm sure i have got a DVD reader. Why is it that i can access only d 1st session while d 2nd folder does'nt appears at all??
By d way Nero7 gave an advice that some systems may have problems/may not b able to access d data.
I chose to ignore it.....sufferin now!!
Is this a hardware related or can it b solved using some software?
Plz help as d 2nd folder is d only backup i got 4 my projects!!!
Lookin 4 trouble
U will never know what hit ya
Freakin Fast.... Cyber!!

How specifically was the DVD burned? Was it burned using "Burning ROM" (or whatever they call it in v7)? Or using InCD?
Good riddance PCWorld.

The files were stored in hard drive.
Used Nero7 option: Make a data DVD.
It recognized d session 1 files & added them.I then added a folder of 2.3GB.
Both options;create a multisession disk & verify files on completion were checked.
Every thing went smoothly.I even opened d folders in d pc.Every file was accessible.
But when i read d DVD on my PC, it shows only session1 files. The 2nd folder that i added is missing!!
My hardware is a DVD-ROM; can read/write CD but can only read DVD. Writing DVD is'nt supported.

I will ask the "dumb" question, just to "cover the bases"...have you successfully used a multi-session disc on your computer before? I am assuming yes, but wanted to make sure we "checked" that one off the list to be sure.

Another "grasping at straws" suggestion would be to try a cleaning disc in your drive. I doubt this will matter, but it certainly should not hurt.

Another stab is to try a different disc type. In other words, if you used a DVD-R, try a DVD+R (this assumes you drive can read both types). Was it a +/-R disc or a +/-RW disc?
Good riddance PCWorld.

Well to b true i have used a multisession CD (not a DVD) on my PC before.
I exactly don't know d spec of my DVD player, all i know is I can perform every operation, both read & write, on a CD(rewritable included). But when it comes to DVD my player can only read it, no writing function....
The DVD that i used had nothing written on it except d brand name!!
My PC's branded & this is what compaq says about d player(cant upload IE file, so copied it to a .txt file)
[attachment=212:Compaq DVD ROM spec.txt]
I have read many other DVD's successfully on my PC earlier, though i guess they were all single session DVD's.

One more thing!!
I just went through an article over net saying it is possible to read multi-session DVD on a DVD player.
All u have to do is uncheck d "create multi-session DVD" option in Nero before burning ur final session onto d DVD.
In short it says u need to 'close' d DVD or prevent furthur data from being added to it in order to read data of all sessions from DVD.
Can anyone verify if this really works??
I don't have a DVD writer,so have to get to my frnd as soon as possible!
In d mean time may b some of u can check out this method...
Bye

It should still say whether it was a DVD+R or DVD-R disc. It is possible that you computer just does not like the disc fully.

Or was it a DVD+R DL (dual layer) disc? I do not know what would happen with a DL disc in a drive that cannot really handle a DL disk. It is possible that it might read some stuff but not all of it.

I guess my suggestion would be to try a different brand and/or type of disc and see if any thing changes.
Good riddance PCWorld.

Its definitely not a dual layer disc as it has a max limit of 4.7GB
However i'm trying d method of uncheckin d multi-session option in nero7

Let us know how that goes. If that does not help, we will go back to the "drawing board".

Sorry, i took some time to reply, but i was thrown off d net...thanks to IE8.
It crashed.. nothing new, but it crashed for d 1st time in 4 months...
Anyways, looks like i figured out this one..
Indeed if u 'close' ur multisession DVD, u will b able to read it in any ordinary DVD player.
Yeah, in d 3rd session i unchecked multi-session option in Nero7. When d writing was over, i ran d disk on my DVD-ROM & it read all data from all sessions perfectly!!
