Because it is fun watching people with absolutely NO SENSE OF HUMOR cough a hairball when I do it. After all, anyone who actually bothers to READ what I write and know my general philosophy will know that it is a a light hearted, tongue in cheek thing. While I might lightheartedly favor Macs and defend them when some overzealous Windoze nazi says false things about them, I also am fairly consistant in pointing out that Macs are not the best solution for all things and all people. There are LOTS of times when a Windoze PeeCee is the better option.
I will point out that there are WAY more "Windoze Wonks" that will force feed Windoze on someone regardless of whether it is the right tool for the job or not. They are MORE than willing to foist THEIR way of doing things and THEIR preferences on others. Personally, it matters little to me which OS a person uses as long as they are happy with THEIR choice (that is until Apple decides to pay me for every person that I "bring to the light" or Micro$oft pays me to corrupt more people...or is it the other way around...I forget...then I might care a little more ;) ).

Not Which operating system is best depending on what you wanna do.
To the question: Which operating system is best?
There is only one answer.
The best OS is XP Home SP3.

I'm personally a HUGE fan of your basic Windows XP Home Edition w/ Service Pac 3. I have a built a gaming based computer that runs really fast with XP due to the low system specifications that it holds. The only downside I have is that I don't have a built in media center on my OS even though that can be fixed with a simple solution such as the linux based Media Portal that runs very well on windows based machinery.
I will be bitting the bullet here soon for Vista. Being that I use the computer for gaming it feels like it's a must to have DirectX1o graphics support. So by christmas I should have Vista Home Premium really the only version worth it's weight as Ultimate is just an over bloated version of Vista.
Why can't Microsoft do what Linux did and create an installer like the new Wubi allowing us to run Windows XP and Vista easily. I guess it's just to simple for the comprehend and too easy of a way for them to lose money.

In my opinion, I believe that WIndows XP is the most common o.s. and what most people use. But when it comes to stability, security, and ease of use Mac OS X 10.5 is the way to go. For my needs I was able to replace all of my apps from my Windows XP to my Mac as long with all my files.
