Hey guys!

My Windows Security Center has been acting very odd lately. It kept on popping up and telling me that no virus protection is found on my PC when I have Avast! installed. So I tried switching to AVG as well as Kaspersky but Win Security Center still told the same thing.

Also it's been trying to force me to activate Malware Defense license for my computer.

In addition, I discovered that the "Activate" button is the only button that worked on the Win Security Center interface:blink:

Could this be a virus disguised as Windows Security Center??

PS. How is NOD32 as an antivirus software?

Ok, you have been infected by that horrible Rogue software Malware Defence. Under NO circumstance are you to
Activate that thing. It has disabled your Windows Security Center. You should have Kept Avast and informed us of
your situation as soon as you found out.

Try , if you still can access the internet, to download, Install and Update the definitions of :
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php . MalwareByte' Anti-Malware. IF it is able to install
then, run a Full Scan of your PC.

IF it won't install then, your best bet would be to Boot in Safe Mode with Internet and download, install and update
the definitions of SUPERAntiSpyware : http://www.superanti...tispyware.html.

Both are free to use for personal use.

Try these methods and IF they don't work , post back and we will continue to work on your problem.

The best "Guide" for removing "Malware Defense" is
at http://www.bleepingc...malware-defense .

According to this Guide, you should NOT attempt to
use/get Malwarebytes Anti-Malware until AFTER you
have done 2 other "Steps" . And instead of using the
recently ineffective "rkill" program, use "exeHelper"
available at http://www.raktor.ne...r/exeHelper.com .
Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.

I followed the directions for removeal of this virus and it worked with one problem. The security center virus is cleared but if I click on an application on my desktop I get a message "Application not found". With up with that?

The "Guide" posted on the Bleepingcomputer Forums
was effective as of late Dec 2009; many of these
"Rogue" Programs "mutate" later, making the Guide
NOT completely effective . Your "Situation" seems
similar to the One I read about on the Spybot
Advanced Malware Removal Forums at

There the person needed the help of an experienced,
trained, CERTIFIED, Volunteer "Malware Removal
Specialist" who developed a SPECIALIZED removal
plan based on the contents of "Logs" that were
posted .

I recommend you seek assistance there or at a
similar Advanced Malware Removal Forum, such as
Geeks To Go, which is the One I usually recommend,

Hi everyone,
I tried the superantispyware and the exe. I was able to clean out 100+ infections, but still am seeing the popups about viruses. I then tried the stopzilla link but I couldn't download it, I called the customer service # and they told me someone would have to clean it out for me because the virus is blocking the fix! Can someone help please! Thank you!

I have the same virus, not sure how it got on my computer I usually don't expose myself to viruses. Going through the methods above, Im stuck at trying to get online on safe mode (or safe mode with networking). I doubt its the virus casue Im in safe mode, but could it be? I tried

reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v ProxyEnable /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f ;
reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v ProxyServer /f

but still cant get online. Can anyone help?

Ok Sig,ive tackled with the exact same thing.What worked for me was Norton.If you have more than 1 computer, I suggest doing this:Buy any Norton packet from any computer store(try to get Norton 360),if you have an unused computer chip,insert it in your non-affected computer.Next,insert the disk into your non-affected computer, and download it.Once the download is complete,take out the computer chip and insert it into your affected computer.The prosess to take out the virus may take a while,but its all worth it.

I think ur windows security center is not working properly.So it is good for u choose any other antivirus program..all antivirus are good..but the total security is best..
