Hi! I've looked through a lot of the posts to find a good pocket-size point and shoot camera that takes great pictures, is low on shutter lag speed and high on optical zoom, but most of what I'm seeing recommended are lower on the zoom scale. What camera do you recommend that meets all of these criteria? The last few years I've used Kodak EasyShare cameras, and I'm not too impressed with what I have. Going on a cruise in a few weeks and want to buy a good camera to take. Thanks.

Unless things have changed, you will be VERY hard pressed to find a "point and shoot" type digital camera with a low shutter lag. Shutter lag is just part of the "price" of using a "point and shoot" camera. If you really want to eliminate/minimize shutter lag, you are typically looking at a DSLR or one of the larger, "DSLR-like" (but not really a DSLR) "point and shoot" (I use that term loosely) cameras.

Try the Olympus Stylus 7010. Below is a review at Steve's Digicams
http://www.steves-di...010-review.html

The camera is 12mp. It is pocket sized. It has a 7x Optical Zoom which isn't too bad considering the most you can get from an 'all in one' digi cam is 10x. It has three burst modes: Normal (0.9fps @ 12M), High-speed1 (8.0fps @ 3M), High-speed2 (11.0fps @ 3M).
