Right click IE, go to properties, and type the url of your homepage in the top box, where it says home page

go to tools and then click internet options. yahoo should be highlighted in the top box ,just click on it and delete it by backspacing(easier explanation). then type www.google.com and then click apply and then click o.k..

Did that to the letter... saved it... verified that it said www.google.com and then hit home page and it zips right to Yahoo.Checked properties again and Yahoo is once again the default.Awhile back I installed a Yahoo toolbar (uninstalled now) and I'm wondering if there is a tie-in?????????????

Download spybot search and destroy, and use the tea timer program to lock your homepage to google.

It has nothing to do with the scanner, Spybot includes tea timer, an app that locks your homepage so that no one but you can change it.

{size:18px}:D Hi Etcher : Your situation sounds similar to those having Zone Alarm Firewall on their computer; do you have this ? And if you want to "lock" your homepage ( in the future ), you do NOT need Spybot. Simply download "Spywareguard" from www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html . What "security" programs do you have on your computer, especially any firewall ?

I installed Spybot... it found quite a few "things" that Spy Sweeper didn't find...Looking quickly, I couldn't find Tea Timer Program???I hesitate to install a 3rd program (Spywareguard) ... what do you folks think?I don't have Zone Alarm Firewall ...I have McAfee virus protection but no firewall... I tried the firewall a couple of months ago and my system ran sloooooooooooow.I think the problem points to Yahoo... ?????????????

{size:18px}:D Hi Etcher : SpySweeper is considered a much better antiSPYWARE program than Spybot; within the antiSPYWARE "community" the latter's Quality has fallen recently. See the reliable info at : http://www.spywarewa...htm#trustworthy . Should definitely NOT have Spybot's "TeaTimer" "active" AND SpywareGuard on the same computer, since they "conflict" with one another. Perhaps you can find an ONLINE Yahoo Support Forum to answer your problem, assuming they are the "cause" !? Perhaps you changed your Internet Service Provider recently, which possibly could have your homepage "locked" !?

etcher,It is Spysweeper that is not letting you change your Home page, not IE or Windows. You should be able to change the Home Page in Spysweeper's settings.

To find Teatimer, go to mode -> switch to advanced mode. Then click on tools -> ie tweeks, and check the box that says "Lock IE startpage against user changes."That will lock your startpage. Teatimer should run on startup. You should be able to see it in the icon tray. If not, it's still running, but invisible.
