I have an Epson C86 and the heads are clogged. No amount of cleaning will fix them. I called Epson and they basically said "tough"! It's out of warranty and they won't do anything about it. It's less than 2 years old and is worthless.I need to buy another inexpensive printer as long as it's not Epson!!! Epson has known about the ink clogging the heads for years but still produce the same garbage!!!I had bought all new ink cartridges to clean the heads like Epson said but now I'm stuck with them too!

I had a C86, but didn't have the heads clogged, mine used ink really fast even though my nk settings were on normal or draft quality.

Through the past few months I've had the choice to service a few of these tough units. A couple users even tossed them out, but I was fortunate to get them for cheap(digging in the trash) and have been able to disect them to figure out how to solve these problems. I have come up with a method using alcohol and a large plunger. Using this method I've been able to unclog the printheads, but made more than a small mess. I've had to use a large ziplock bag to enclose this process, as I've messed up a couple of walls while developing the method. More than a few users were happy to get them working again, but they only clogged again, in one case it was just overnight. My recommendation is to junk them and find a more suitable printer with replacable heads or disposable cartridges. Good luck

And, your suggestion of junking the printer is great!

I had an Epson Stylus CX6400 and after two years the print heads clogged. Since replacement print heads would have cost about $100, I decided to just recycle the printer in Epson's recycling program. I bought an Hewlett-Packard printer that has print heads included with the ink cartridges, so that when the ink cartridges are replaced, you also get a new set of print heads. So far so good, but I have only had my new printer for three months. I don't think I will buy another Epson printer.
