I just noticed that Windows media player version 10 or 11 cannot read several music CDs I burned from 2000-2004. The CDs with individual cases are stored in a box well away from heat and moisture. One thing I notice though, I am able to play the CDs in a portable CD player.

I thought that CDs were supposed to last about 100 years. Has anyone experience this, and if so, how did you fix the problem.

Did you burn those disks with an older version of Nero? If so, maybe the disks were not finalized when you burned them. The disks would play fine in the SAME Version of Nero, but will not play in any other program, OR a later version of Nero. You may have to locate & install the same version of Nero, that you used to burn the CD's. Then you can finalize the disks & they should play fine in any music program.

Are the disks the old 74 minute/650Meg CD-R's? I've found that some burners/programs are not compatible with those disks.
