Hi all,

Has anyone an to easy to use video editing software they could recommend?

It doesn't have to free.

I am looking for something that can convert MOV to a file playable in WMP.
As well as other conversion abilities.
Can do scene selection.
And save it to my HDD as a complete project not forcing me to burn it to complete it.

Roxio and Nero are not an option.

This will be used in a w7 OS and hoprfully compatible with XP.

Thanks,

Rommel

I have used Adobe Premiere since the early nineties (version 1) and really like it. (It must be easy 'cause I can use it) The folks I know who are using the Avid software (not the hardware/software package) have had mixed results. I'm sure that there are other and perhaps better packages out there but Premiere does the job for me in XP and Win 7. Of course, I prefer Final Cut Studio but it would require you to embrace the one true computer. Good luck with your search.

Well, to do movie editing (with an appropriate format), you could use Windows Live Movie Maker.

According to this site, it appears that it will handle .MOV files in Windows 7: http://www.intowindo...ported-formats/

I am assuming that Movie Maker can save files in various formats, including WMV.

There is also Premier Elements, which will be a bit more "advanced" than Windows Live Movie Maker and might be overkill for what you want. I honestly do not know if it can handle .MOV files or not, but I suspect that it might. If I get a chance, I can boot up my old Dell which I has an older version of Adobe Premier Elements on it and see what file formats it supports.

For converting MOV files, you could certainly do QuickTime Pro, which also has some basic editing functions. It should also be able to save into some file format that will play in WMP. It is about $30 unless Apple has changed the price.

Hi Smax,

I downloaded windows movie maker and it doesn't recognize MOV format.

I'll look into your other suggestions.

EditShare has released the beta version of it's reworked OPEN SOURCE version of the venerable LightWorks NLE package. http://www.editshare...=164&Itemid=146 The new Lightworks opensource is sweet and very easy to use with a great deal of sophistication. I've been playing with it for a couple of weeks now.

Adobe Premier or Sony Vegas but these aren't free. But I've been using them for a couple of years and these are very good editors for both basic editing and advance editing.

I have been using Sony Vegas Pro for the longest time and it has yet to fail me. If I have to recommend any video editing program it would be Sony Vegas Pro without a doubt.

You can get it here: http://www.sonycreat...m/vegassoftware

Vegas Pro 10 sits at $600.

I don't have 10, I actually have 8.0 but I would imagine that 10 is just as great if not better.

Another program is Adobe Premiere which you can get here: http://www.adobe.com...whatispremiere/

Our church uses Premiere Elements which is like a watered down version of Premiere Pro which also makes it a heck of a lot cheaper. From experience with it though, I've had problems with it while running on Windows 7. It tends to crash a lot especially on startup. Not sure if this is a problem for everybody but it sure is for me.

You can get Premiere Elements here: http://www.adobe.com...cts/premiereel/

Hope this helps.
