I have a computer that I used to venture into Linux about 8 months ago. I installed Ubuntu version 5.x (can't remember the exact version off the top of my head). Now I would like to upgrade to Edubuntu (newest release) because of the educational component. My question: do I simply boot/install from the new version on my CD, or is it more complicated than that? Do I have to uninstall the old version? Will I encounter a problem since it is Edubuntu (don't think so but don't want to break something to find out I was wrong)? BTW, this computer is NOT connected to the internet.I have not been able to find any documentation that will explain the process of upgrading in terms this poor Windows user can understand.Teresa

There may be a "system update" option around one of the administrative panels (don't know, haven't used Ubuntu recently). If not, then simply boot from the Ubuntu CD, then during the partition setup, delete the current partitions, this will delete everything on your 5.x installment, so if you have any files you need to keep, make sure that you've backed them up.Hope that is understandable.
