What are your top five operating systems in your preferences?

Here's mine:
  • Linux
  • Windows 7
  • Windows Vista
  • Mac OS X
  • Windows XP
I could certainly learn something from this.
Best regards,

I have always been a windows person. First it was 98 then xp then vista now W7. I love windows because of if you know what your doing it can be a very open-source OS. But with my recent programming classes I have been messing around with Linux a lot. I really enjoy linux and plan on spending a lot of time learning it but Windows is still at the top of my list cause of what I know about it.

If any of the other system can share the most market like Windows, it will become a target of public attack

Windows 7>Windows XP> MAC OSX. Vista doesn't deserve to be on that list. :)

Hey LIl !!

Haven't seen you around in Quite a while. Hope your studies are going well.

But, you disappoint me when you say that Vista doesn't belong in this list. I

went back to Vista after using 7 for about three months and I really can't

tell the difference between the two apart from the Task bar. MY Vista is just

as fast and Doesn't crash (ever). You should know that the Hardware was

important to have Vista working the way it was intended too. Just as W7 needs

some of the same hardware to be as smooth as Vista is. Anyways, I still like

Vista and will not go back until they come out with SP1 for 7 (they are already working on one)

OR they change that Horrible WMP 12.

1. OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
2. Windows 7 64 (Pro or Ultimate, no home versions)
3. OS X 10.4 Tiger
4. Windows Vista 64 (Business or Ultimate, no home versions)
5. Tie - OS X 10.3 Panther and Windows 2000 Professional

Omissions:
Any home version of Windows. I use an Active Directory domain powered by Windows Small Business Server 2008, and home versions miss most of the goodies. Home versions also lack the VERY cool offline folder synchronization that is one of my favorite features of any OS.

OS X 10.5 Leopard and 10.2 Jaguar. Jaguar didn't have enough and Leopard had too much for its underpinnings (instability). I got more kernel panics with these two versions that with all other Mac systems and 64-bit Windows combined.

Windows XP. Sorry, I just hated XP. Its Luna theme just looked uncomfortable to me and the OS never could reliably suspend/resume on an IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad, which are my favorite laptops.

Linux. Well, I actually like Linux a great deal, but the lack of real, actual Microsoft Word makes it a complete non-starter in the legal field, where complex formatting and document sharing rule.

I can't exactly remember the name, kind of like ISIS. Corvus Systems in San Jose wrote it. It incorporated network server within the desktop and needed 8 GB RAM. This was around "85. It was a well laid out plan but got buried in the DOD.

Why do you like XP so much? I've been using Windows 7 for 2 years now (built a new machine and got Windows 7 a few months after its' release) and really like it compared to xp.

For one thing they butchered windows movie maker, it cant do what I do with windows movie maker in XP. I would have to buy some 3rd party app and I dont want that.

I would have to pay for Win7 for every PC I have it on, with XP I can put it on anything and it always activates.

Well, you're not supposed to activate it on multiple machines. Second, what can't the newer versions of movie maker do that the XP one could?

Windows Live Movie Maker is a stripped down version and does not include video capture, many features have been reduced, no longer supports importing video from an analog video source such as an analog camcorder, VCR or from a webcam, allows users to publish videos to Windows Live SkyDrive, Facebook, YouTube, and Flickr, thats something I will never do.

Windows 7 seems fast enough even without one.

Win7 can boot in 3 sec. with an SSD, I've seen it with my friends PC. Boot, not from sleep, actually booting. Win7 is great, but its true, the Windows Live Movie Maker sucks. Really bad. There's so many features taken out, you can barely even edit the text

There are a few other suckish parts, but otherwise, Win7 rules.

1.Win7
2.Vista
3.iOS5
4.Android
5.OS X Lion

Including mobile platforms FTW
