Cloud based security products are currently divided by users. We have users who trust them, and users that don't. I make it very clear in my post's I trust cloud security, now I want to know your thoughts. What do you think about cloud based security products, do you trust them?

I don't. Security software or not, I don't trust the cloud for anything. I think there's too big of a risk of much larger issues if cloud based security software is compromised vs. normal security software. I much prefer my data to be on my machine under my control, where I can manipulate it as I see fit. I don't even back up to the cloud- I have an FTP server at my house where I keep one copy, and use an off-site FTP server run by my father where I keep a second copy of everything important.

Hi Ibrad :

I think I sent you a "Private Message" a while ago
on a Link on the Avast Support Forums on the
"thoughts" of forum "Regular" "polonus", who also
quotes VRT's Matthew Watchinski , at
http://forum.avast.c...p?topic=53045.0
which contained :

"In 2009 the Cloud has been plagued by various problems likes Twitter that went offline, loss of T-Mobile SideKick data, the disastrous Amazon's EC2 uptime and Gmail outings. "These problems form a trend for all upcoming services to deal with", says Watchinski. The next round will be the abuse of the Cloud for malicious purposes, something we experienced already with EC2* and Twitter* being used as command & control channel for botnets. "

Since that time, "polonus", on Jan 28, started a
thread titled "Keep your cloud application out of
deadlock" at http://forum.avast.c...p?topic=54573.0 .

Yes I have read that before but where are the articles saying Immunet Severs crashed leaving people without protection, Panda Cloud's antivirus cloud goes down, or articles like that. Every server has a chance of going down, Security company's know that servers go down that's why they don't put all their protection on one server. Why not take a chance with cloud security? Behavior Based technology was new at one time, firewalls were new at one time, antivirus software was also new at one time. Cloud security is a new technology, it may someday become the normal thing. Why follow trends when you can set them?

NO,, since our national defense can be hacked how is the "cloud" immune ??
if our pc files are open to the "cloud" anyone on the "cloud" can peek at what the "cloud" is scanning. ?? is that not so ??? what is the "cloud" copying for the "national defense, homeland security, alphabet groups, or just plain being nosey, as in googglles case"
in my personal opinion (for what it's worth) personal privacy is almost non-existant in modern day internet use.
no internet banking or paying of bills here, just lots of surfing looking for info and parts for my hobbies, and chatting with the grandkids and family,, OMG they probably saw the pics, my daughter sent, of my new 1 mo old grandson in the bath !!!!
