A couple of thoughts re the question. Several of the multimedia software suites (eg, nero 7, 8 or 9) will directly edit/use vob files. And all recent versions of nero, and the latest version of Easy Creator do smart encoding (ie, they just copy, don't recode, any unmodified portions of imported vob files during the final production/recode process), perhaps other such media suites do likewise. Thus you can import vob files, trim and assembly them in any order you like, with transitions of your choice. If you don't apply changes that affect broad areas of the video (like contrast or color adjustments), then they can burn the production to DVD or file folder rather quickly (10's of minutes vice hours). Perhaps you could obtain one of those and use for your video productions. Also, if you happen to have a version of Vista with Movie Maker 6 (eg, the HE), it can also edit/trim vob's, converting them to wmv rather quickly. However, when you open a folder with MM 6 you will not see the vob files, you must first chose "All Files" at the button on the bottom right, then you can see and import the vob's into MM6.
