Here is a page of a larger article on how to buy a flat screen TV that gives some details on the difference.

I find myself in the same boat, trying to decide which plasma or lcd HDTV television is best for me, and my own research as found the following: In terms of plasma vs. lcd, you need to decide which qualities are most important to you: rich accurate color and good viewing angles (plasma wins in these areas); or brightness and crispness of picture (LCD wins here). Also, no one but you can decide which particular set will meet your specific needs. To that end, you can take a test at this site: http://www.thedigita...m/tvtest.htm... to determine which plasma or lcd HDTV is best for you. Good luck!

Also, depending on how long you're planning on using/keeping it, there are issues of refilling the plasma, which apparently is really expensive, and burn in issues with plasma.I bought a plasma years ago when it first came out. Played alot of video games on it, and got alot of burn in. I sold it for pennies on the dollar on craigslist. They claim newer plasmas have tricks to stop the burn in, but not sure i would do it if you're planning on having alot of static imaging even so. LED monitors and TVs are in the pipeline (for more reasonablle cost) and seems very promising.

Get an LCD. Better technology, better picture, longer life, does not suffer from burn-in.

in my opinion you have to be sensitive with both LCD and PLASMA. in my tons of researching, i've come to a conclusion that the plasma will be the one. i'm afraid of burning out pixels and i'm afraid of ghost images. i'd rather deal with ghost then a burned out pixel. geez! which is more annoying?i plan to buy the LG 42" HDTV plasma from circuit city. i've been stalling on this for a while now for two reasons. waiting for prices to fall even less, and my current 27" won't die on me. it's been 5 years now (GE brand).good luck and happy LCD or PLASMA shopping.p.s. - DO NOT BUY THE REAR PROJECTION. bulbs don't last long and it cost around $300.00 to replace. what a gag!
