I can smell the fear off the company... and I can hear the chuckles from the chipmakers who knew this was coming as soon as Apple bought their own Silcon Fab... maaaaaybe it would have been a better idea to stick with an undervolted Atom CPU vs the single threaded A4 eh?

Nokia does not think Apple's patents (being mostly software) are worth anything. Nokia's patents (being mostly hardware) are beat Apple over the head where Nokia, thinking Apple has developed no tech, wants higher than normal fees for access to their IP. Likewise, Nokia wants free access to Apple's IP. This indicates that Nokia has little respect for Apple's IP.
So Apple sues a smaller company, HTC, over some of the same concepts and patents. In the end, HTC agrees to a nominal fee to use some of the IP giving Apple a better hand against Nokia to get favorable cross licensing of IP.

"Might probably"? Apple from the intro of the Apple TV knew it was nothing more than a tech/Apple hobbyist toy. This is not the case with the iPad. So before you go putting your foot in your mouth stop and think about what exactly it is you're saying.

First, your comment is off topic. Second, do you have an Apple TV? If you do, then you would have first hand knowledge and would be entitled to an opinion worth listening to.
I have had an Apple TV for almost 2 years and think it is great. You can choose to steam content or have it stored on the device itself, so you don't need to have a computer connected all the time. It takes photos from your library, lets you create slideshows and albums, add music, have the photos "swim" by as you listen to audio and lets you share them with friends and family. It gives you access to your music and video files from your living room, lets you download movies and TV episodes, access YouTube, Flickr, Podcasts and MobileMe content and watch them on your big screen TV, listen to radio stations over the internet and play all your audio through your stereo system and to remote speakers.
My wife is almost an "anti" technologist, yet she thinks it's one of the best consumer electronics purchases we have made.
I do not and have never worked for Apple. I have competed against them in some market segments with a few successes and several failures.

Obviously Palm holds a trump card or Apple would have smacked them down LONG ago because they're in such dire straits. So investigate this .. Google BUYS Palm or HTC does since HTC is no small company and most likely has the cash to buy Palm JUST for their patent portfolio. So no .. we won't be giving up our Android phones anymore then we gave up our SUSE, Redhat or Ubuntu install discs because SCO and Microsoft threatened the gates with a patent lawsuit ram. So take the fanboyism and blow.

In life people come up with ideas, other people take idea and try to improve on it, which makes the first person try to improve even more on that.
It's an evolution of ideas. Deal with it Apple, make you IPhone even better!

1. Apple has at least a dozen MAJOR patent infringements against them TODAY. Probably a lot more if you dive into it as a responsible reporter.
2. Most patent infringements are discussed out of the courts, IE a letter to the manufacturer demanding FTF or Arbitration for a set fee. I can go from manu of a chip, to distributor of a chip, to the reseller of a chip... that is just an example.
Apple neglected #2, which is really a gentleman's way of doing things. Apple has lost faith in the community in the last 48 hours in this respect. One could surmise that they are anticipating huge profit losses in the future and are only trying to use the courts to help that bottom line.
The title should be pot and kettle are black. If Apple actually wins, wouldn't that support the patent lawsuits against them from major companies already?

There is probably nothing that will come out of it, but give it time.
Chances are that Apple will lose, and the patents revoked. Or it will be in litigation for 10+ years. I really don't see how Apple is doing anything good, but in all the forums I'm on, people are wondering what Apple is doing and they don't like it. See my other post... Most patent holders that think there is a violation will try to Arbitrate or settle out of court.
Apple is just trying for attention.... wait Jobs 1.0 did that and got fired, we are in the Jobs 2.0 now, is HISTORY repeating itself? lol

When will this stupid lie ever be put to rest??? Apple gave Xerox stock in exchange to use their GUI elements and ideas. That's why Xerox didn't sue, and Xerox got a lot of money from those shares.

Only if you can't compete do you sue someone. It seems like Apple knows the Google's rising tide is challenging the iPhone. We know Apple's patents are weak & questionable at best. I seriously doubt Apple's legal challenge will bear them fruit.
