I have a desktop computer that has a Westell router connected to it. I have another desktop computer that has the Netopia USB Wireless LAN Card plugged into it. Both computers are firewalled and have the latest virus protection. I am not asked for a password when I log on to the internet on either computer. Is it possible to be hacked from someone driving by? How do I encrypt the connections so I am not hacked? Thanks

Encrypt your router/wireless with WPA2. WEP can be cracked in a matter of hours, WPA can be broken in about 2 weeks, but WPA2 will take them a few months. There should be a user guide that came with your router that will tell you how to encrypt your signal. Or you can try your manufacturer's website for help.Or, if you don't have a router and are using AD HOC, windows networking wizard will walk you through your set up, and encryption. If you don't even use the wireless cards to use the internet, just disable them. Go to control panel -> network connections -> right click the card you want disabled, and click on disable.
