Google Leaving China How to Thechnically Cope

I'm an American living in China and today my IE7 Google Search default page went from <http://www.google.com> to <http://www.google.com.hk>. No matter my actions, all Account and Internet Options settings default to <http://www.google.com.hk/>

Can someone tell me how this change is going to affect me and, basiclly, step-by-step, how to get around it?
