The list price alone is NOT a indicator of the total price you will be paying for any device.

Just add another negative apple/ipad comment to your name. Boy they just can't make you happy. I guess they should include any and all 3rd party puchases to the list price. Better yet they should all be free. Why isn't everything free?

So the magazine you get delivered to your mailbox came free when you bought it?
Sheesh, the extent some people will reach to try to make a brand look bad. I really doubt that anyone expected magazines to be free on the iPad, but then, maybe you didn't expect 30,000 books to be available FREE when you purchase that iPad, hmmm?

To be fair, it would appear many of those books are available free to anyone... from the way things read, there will be a few books that are normally paid books that will be free, but the majority of them are already public domain.

Agreed, but there is no doubt that by Apple integrating Project Gutenberg's huge selection of public domain books into iBooks many more people will be aware of their availability.
This is a win-win-win situation for Project Gutenberg, Apple and iPad users. PG gets exposure, Apple gets to offer 30,000 free books and iPad users get easy access to the PG collection.
Brilliant! Why has nobody thought of doing this before?
I have a feeling Apple has a number of other 3-way wins up its sleeve.

I was actually unaware of PG before this story broke. Very good information. Do I really thing iTunes is needed to make it big? I don't think so. I think Apple could have found a way to link back to PG instead, But it does work as a nice bit of publicity for both parties. Primarily Apple... but still.

Why are digital copies the same as a physical one? Without the cost of materials and distribution it should be significantly less. Most magazines will give you a free digital subscription if subscribe to the one that is mailed. But when you try and buy it separately they charge you the same. It's horse s**t.
I personally would subscribe to way more magazines if I didn't have to worry about the waste I would produce.
