Does anyone know if it is possible to convert a jpeg file into a plt file and how to do it?
I need a plt file for the engraver's machine which will only work with this kind of file.

Greetings! Welcome to the PCWorld forums!

A plt file is typically basically an ASCII text file that uses text to describe the lines, dots, curves, etc. It is a "vector" based image file.

A JPG file is a "raster" or "bitmap" based image file.

I do not know if you can go directly from a JPG to a PLT file, but there are programs that can "trace" a JPG into a "vector" based image file format that then likely could be converted to a PLT file.

Try searching Google (or Bing) for "jpg to vector" to get the first step. Then search for whatever file format you go to with whatever you try to PLT.

You can also try searching Google for "jpg to plt".

It certainly appears that it can be done, but I have not done it myself.
Good riddance PCWorld.
