Very helpful article that points towards some benefits consumers can expect from 4G. It will be interesting to see how wireless service providers will get these 4G services indoors.

I have to say, as someone who simply uses a cell phone to make and recieve calls, this hype is out of control. Cell phone obsession is bordering ridiculousness. I'll use my laptop or PC for the internet, my GPS for directions and my digital camera for photo's. The rest is garbage we are being convinced we "need".

I loved all technical stuff since I was a child. I am 45 and before the www I had my own bbs in the FIDONET, was customer at the german BTX system (slow and VERY expensive) and made my first HTML page just out of interest after buying a book, long before there was a wysiwyg editor.
My first connection to the www was via a very expensive USR modem and a long distant call to munich (1.50 DM per minute) because there was only one Compuserv connection with 9600bps in Germany.
I always loved the possibilies that telecommunication gave us.
Now I own a HTC Touch HD patched to WM6.5 and Sense.
I LOVE mobile connectivity and I am very sad that none of my friends at my age are interested in location based services like Google latitude or even own a smart phone.
I almost never make phone calls with my mobile phone. I write emails, sms or chat via mobile messengers or play with Google Maps Mobile. All my life I dreamed of having a mobile map with me, because I always get lost. :-)
I cannot wait for the new speeds and hardware to come to us. I want to have a tablet with 4G, 64GB RAM and 10 hours running time. Then I can work with remotely my desktop at home and finally don't have to be home any more. :-)
