I have been trying to install a new sata drive as the only hard drive and install WinXP on it but, even after pressing F6 during the install and loading the sata drivers from floppy, WinXP setup will not detect any hard drives and gives up on the install. The hard drive (SATA WD 320GB) is detected by BIOS during POST but not later during the install. All the cables are connected properly and I downloaded the latest drivers for the onboard sata controllers (VIA and Promise) from the motherboard maker (MSI-KT6 Delta). I took the hard drive back to where I bought it and they checked it and said they couldn't find a problem with it.I've dredged the Internet for solutions but I still don't know what the problem is. It's driving me crazy! Can anybody help me?
