Can anyone suggest any free antivirus software? AVG will no longer be free as of January 2007. If not free, can you suggest easy to use yet effective and inexpensive antivirus software for Windows 98? Tahks a bunch!

http://www.freeav.com/Avira (alternately called Antivir) is the best free antivirus out there. Just look at the reviews. In fact, I use it on all of my Linux boxes.

I'm w/"TheNameless" in suggesting AntiVir. It's very good & there is a version specifically for 98/ME.

{size:18px}[/size]:D Hi Fredda : There is some confusion about AVG continuing to offer a FREE AV in the future !? I have heard that only the version NUMBER is being changed regarding the FREE version. As to comparing Avast and Antivir, the former has much superior Support Forums.

Ya, they will stop sending updates to the last version so people will upgrade to another version, the new version is still free.
