sup people. i have been doing ALOT of reading lately on computer hardware because i plan on building a very powerful computer very soon. my budget for this computer is 6000 dollars and i just want some questions cleared out here. first of all, the system specs are as follows.Lian li v2000B OR Cooler master stacker 830 evolutionasus ROG extreme striker motherboard nforce 680i SLIDual Geforce 8800 GTX'sMemory : (can i get some suggestions on best memory for this build?)Extreme X6800 2.9 GHZ intel processordual raptor drives sata 150 GB on raid 0 - 10 000 rpmdual western digital 400 GB sata2 hard drives on raid 0dual DVD burner drivesCreative XFI elite platinum sound card (can i remove the asus one and add this one?)ok so thats pretty much my system right there. my questions are what kind of power supply could support all this? and my other question is . .. . . . i want to set up not regular pc speakers 5.1 on this system, i want to get my own receiver and my own home theater surround sound speakers to go with this. would this be possible and would this kill the power supply or would it work just like regular 5.1 pc speakers ?

I think anything in the 1000 Watt power supply should be plenty though I'm not sure how far down you'd want to come since chances are you'll want to upgrade a year or two down the road.As for memory, I think the big question is whether you'll run a 32 bit O/S or 64 bit. DDR2 is likely the best though there are various speeds and timings out there you could research. If the system is 32 then 4 GB is the limit though some Operating Systems may not recognize that much if what I've read in a few places is correct. OTOH, if you go 64 bit then 4 GB is probably a nice amount to have.Is this a Linux machine or Windows? If the latter will you be using Vista or XP?Regards,JB

hey. ill be using windows vista. or atleast when it comes out i will be. for now iam using windows xp professional service pack 2 (32 bit version). and i dont think i want 4 gigs of memory, thats to much. i would prefer a dual kit of quality ddr2 - 6400 mhz memory since this is the max that the motherboard iam gettin supports. anything higher then that . . i beleive downgrades. but anways for those memory specs what would be best? iam thinkin team extreme, ocz or corsair. just dont know which ones.

Well there are sites like Anandtech that review memory so that would be one idea to see which comes out on top in terms of performance. http://www.anandtech...doc.aspx?i=2809 being a link to such an article.Regards,JB

Consider waiting on the ram till ddr3, unless youre hooked on that mobo. 1000 Watts should be enough, that is a pretty hefty system, I'd go with Bridgette and try to get two in there, will help for later on. Otherwise, souunds like a power hungry and kickass pc!
