Packet Scheduler Miniport#2

In Device Manager under network adapters is Packet Scheduler miniport#2 with a yellow exclamation mark next to it. When I click on it I am told that the device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device ( Code 31). If I try to uninstall it, as directed by Help and support, it will not allow me to do so and says the device could be required in the boot process. How can I remedy this problem?. Thanks Peter

The solution is to reinstall the drivers. Download this software Everest Home Edition http://www.majorgeek...wnload4181.html .Once installed, go to the network tab. The manufacturer and model of the adapter will be displayed. Go to the manufacturer website to download the relevant driver.

Firstly, before I start. I hope that you can reply to me using the proper channels( by replying back to pcworld) instead of using email. This gives not only me but other people opportunities to access your situation.Is it necessary for this network adapter to work. It is true that the adapter is not critical for your system if you are not using it. If this is the case, I will follow your friend's suggestion and simply disable it.And why did you post your topic here when you already have it here.http://forums.pcworld.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7254&highlight=

My apologies yeokm1, I was unaware of the proper channels to follow. I now know for future postings. I did as my friend advised and have disabled the device. It does not seem to have had any affect on my system. What is this device and what purpose does it serve?. I really would like to know. Thanks againminder1

This device is to enable your computer to connect to a local area network. If you use a USB modem, then you can safely disable this device.

I recently encountered the same problem when installing a second OS on my laptop. After I installed the Broadcom 57xx drivers, a "Packet Scheduler Miniport #4" driver error came up. The exact error codes and everything were the same as yours. I solved this problem by going to hardware setup wizard, and installing from a specific location, and then installing without automatically searching for the .sys file. I told it to look for any compatible driver on the machine, and Windows came up with the "Packet Sceduler Miniport Driver". I chose that one, and now the error is gone, and my ethernet works functionally.
